About CourtShaadi: Court Marriage and Registration in Ghaziabad

CourtShaadi is the court marriage and matrimonial practice of Advocate Vishu Kushwaha and Advocate Himanshu Kushwaha. The office is at Shop No 6, K Block, Kavi Nagar Market, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh 201002. Cases are filed and heard at the District Court, Ghaziabad.

Couples who contact Courtshaadi usually ask two things: how long it'll take, and whether they'll be safe. The honest answer to the first depends on which law the marriage falls under, so that's where we start.

Two Routes to a Registered Marriage

If both of you are Hindus (under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 this also covers Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists), the marriage can be solemnised by Hindu rites, including an Arya Samaj ceremony, and then registered under the UP Marriage Registration Rules, 2017 at the Sub-Registrar's office. The Sub-Registrar checks the documents before registering it.

If one of you isn't Hindu and neither wants to convert, the marriage comes under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. You give notice to the Marriage Officer of the district where at least one of you has lived for the 30 days before the notice. The notice is published, objections can be filed within 30 days, and the marriage can be solemnised only after that period ends, before the Marriage Officer and three witnesses.

A certificate records a marriage. It doesn't make a marriage valid if the conditions the law sets weren't met.

We check your documents, tell you which law applies, prepare the papers and handle the filing. We don't promise a date. The registration office keeps its own schedule, and no lawyer can shorten the 30-day notice under the Special Marriage Act.

Bring these papers to the first meeting:

• Proof of age: birth certificate, school leaving certificate or passport. The groom must be at least 21 and the bride at least 18.
• Address proof and photographs of both of you.
• Witnesses with government photo ID.
• Proof of the ceremony, where the marriage has already been solemnised.
